Basecamp Oulanka is located in the southernmost part of Oulanka National Park, along Finland’s most popular hiking trail, the Karhunkierros (Bear’s Trail). The Pieni Karhunkierros (Little Bear Trail) day trail runs right next to us.

Surrounded by pristine wilderness, dramatic canyons and the rapids of the Kitka River, Basecamp offers authentic nature experiences all year round. Here you can explore the wild Finnish nature at its best, relax in peaceful surroundings and enjoy a wide range of activities.

Basecamp has been designed, built and maintained according to sustainable principles since 1998. We want to help and act for the good of nature. By choosing our services, you support nature conservation efforts and our long-term sustainability work.

Wilderness Hotel

Our two log-built hotel buildings offer a total of 18 rooms. The smaller ground-floor rooms have direct access to the surrounding nature. The larger upstairs rooms have their own balcony and a spacious loft with the possibility of extra beds for families or groups of friends.

Stay in the peace of nature, surrounded by forest and free from light pollution and traffic noise. There is no television, radio or minibar in the rooms – instead, enjoy the cozy hall of our main building or the charming lakeside fireplace lounge.
