The Oulankajoki paddling route from Mataranniemi to Jäkälämutka has gained a reputation as the most enchanting paddling route in Europe. However, its true beauty can only be understood by experiencing it yourself. This 25-kilometer route is classified as easy, making it suitable for beginners and families.

It typically takes about 6–7 hours to paddle the entire route. Alternatively, you can paddle the first section from Mataranniemi to Nurmisaarenniemi, which is about 8 kilometers and takes around 2–3 hours. This shorter option is perfect if you want to get a first glimpse of the beauty of the Oulankajoki. If you're hiking the Karhunkierros trail, you can paddle this 8-kilometer section and experience the Oulanka National Park both from the river and the hiking trail. There are several spots along the route where you can take a break, get out of the canoe, and rest. We highly recommend adding an overnight stay to your trip and setting up a tent along the way. This way, you can truly immerse yourself in the park's natural wonders and enchanting landscapes.

Price includes: Equipment —  At the starting point: canoe/kayak, paddles, life jackets, dry bags, a map, and safety instructions, as well as return transportation to the starting point.

NOTE! Return transport to the starting point departs at 16:00 from Jäkälänmutka (15:45 from Nurmisaari).
